When you come to us with a product idea, you've probably mapped out some of the key features or non-negotiables you want to include. That's great and provides an awesome opportunity to build on.
However, if the proposed architecture will cause problems in six months, we say so. Not to sound difficult, but because having an early conversation is better (and cheaper) than having to rebuild later on.
Before we start building something, we take a minute (or two) to make sure it's worth building. This usually sounds like: Why does this feature need to exist? Who is it actually for? How could it be more efficient?
Working from a place of curiosity keeps us open to every combination and solution, not just the obvious one. Sometimes the answer is the feature you asked for. Sometimes it's something simpler that gets you to the same outcome faster.
This mixed approach leaves you with a clear understanding of what was built, why it was structured the way it was and what to do next — whether that's with us or without us.
On the business side, this translates into fewer expensive surprises and a product that works for everyone: the customers, your team and the bottom line.
